DRR Joseph Batter Ssengooba’s Closing Address at the 100th District Conference Assembly in Dar

On May 3, 2025, at the historic 100th District Conference Assembly (DCA) in Dar es Salaam, District Rotaract Representative Joseph Batter Ssengooba delivered a stirring closing address that resonated throughout District 9213. Against the backdrop of milestone celebrations and forward-looking workshops, Ssengooba’s words captured both pride in past achievements and resolve for the journey ahead.

Opening with gratitude, he thanked Rotary International leaders, Rotaract clubs, sponsors, and fellow youth ambassadors for their unwavering support. “This centenary assembly is more than a celebration of legacy; it is a call to action for the next hundred years of service,” he declared. Ssengooba highlighted collective milestones: over 100,000 hours of community service logged district-wide, three consecutive years of growth in member engagement, and record-breaking fundraising for the Rotary Foundation.

He recounted personal memories from his tenure as Club President in 2021–2022, when his theme “Serve to Change Lives” drove transformative health clinics and mentorship programs, and credited those experiences with shaping his leadership philosophy. “Every handshake at a medical camp, every mentorship session, every tree planted in an environmental drive, they taught me that genuine service transcends titles,” he reflected.

Looking forward, Ssengooba called on clubs to embrace collaboration across district lines, leverage digital tools for more inclusive communication, and prioritize sustainability in all projects. “Let us harness our collective creativity to forge solutions that are not only impactful today but viable for generations to come,” he urged.

In closing, he invoked the Rotaract motto: “Service Above Self,” reminding attendees that leadership is a privilege earned through action. With a standing ovation, the assembly rose to renew its commitment to unity, integrity, and innovation. As the 100th DCA concluded, Ssengooba’s address left an indelible mark, igniting renewed passion and charting a visionary course for Rotaract’s next century of service.
